First Baptist Church Youngsville

Rev. Chris Fuselier has served as pastor at First Baptist Church Youngsville for ten years. He has 29 years in the ministry having previously pastored two other churches in southwest Louisiana. He began his pastoral ministry as a college student. Bro. Chris graduated from McNeese State University and holds a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and currently serves on the Executive Board and the Church Ste Corporation for the Louisiana Baptist Convention and the Executive Board for the Evangeline Baptist Association. He grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana. His hobbies include reading, exercise (bike riding/walking) and spending time with his family. He and his wife, Christi, have two children. Bro. Chris' favorite verse is Philippians 4:13.

2 Corinthians 12:9 "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

When you're raised in a family of Oklahoma Sooner fans, chances are that you will become a fan as well.  Such is the case in First Baptist Church Youngsville's new Worship Leader/Children's Coordinator, Tyler Swift. Because his dad serves as a pastor, Tyler has been fortunate to have lived in various cities before his dad was called to serve on the staff at First Baptist Church Lafayette. As a result of living in Lafayette, Tyler attended UL Lafayette, receiving a degree in Business Management. Currently, Tyler is pursuing a degree in Master of the Arts in Worship Ministry, which he will complete in the fall of 2026.

Tyler and Kelly, his wife of nearly 2 years, reside in Lafayette and in February of 2026 had their first son. When Tyler received the call from our church, he and Kelly visited on Sunday (unbeknownst to our congregation) and were completely impressed with the friendliness and warmth shown to them by our members. He remarked that they continue to be embraced by our members with love, kindness, and support. Tyler has been our Worship Leader since the beginning of August 2025 and he has plans to expand the participation in various existing programs, such as the choir and the Praise Team, as well as developing new ones.

If you ever needed a one stop shop in order to get anything done, then you've come to the right person when you meet Asher Jones. Our Youth Minister not only provides a Christ-centered ministry for our youth, but he also owns a pressure washing company and he works for an injection molding company. Asher is attending Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri, where he is pursuing a BA in Biblical Studies. In addition, he has received a Christian Foundation Certificate from Leavell College in New Orleans. Asher is blessed to be one of three children who was raised by two parents who have been fantastic role models for him all his life. He values the gift of learning patience from his two sisters and the encouragement he gets from them to be better.  As he was praying for a door to open for him to be able to pursue a career in youth ministry, some of his mentors from First Baptist Lafayette mentioned to him that our church happened to be looking for a youth minister and they thought that this would be a good fit for him. Once Asher was able to check out the church and meet the congregation, he quickly found he loved the church. He is learning new things every day, especially from Brother Chris and his preaching. Asher would love to see our youth ministry grow and he has great plans to move that goal along. 

Asher's favorite scripture is found in James 1:2-4 ESV - Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing

Cathy is new to the First Baptist Church Staff. She and her husband, Jonah, have been attending FBCY for about 10 years. He has been a deacon at the church for 3 years. Before coming to FBCY, Cathy worked in preschool education here in Youngsville as well as in Texas for 19 years. She was born and raised in Texas and is an Aggies fan thru and thru. She enjoys crocheting, painting, and crafting in her spare time. She has a daughter who graduated from LSU and a son who graduated from ULL and has recently gotten married.
